On the Road Again
I've learned that the stages of post-marathon depression differ from the traditional stages of grief.
Sunday post race: Sit around in a dark house watching romance movies.
Monday: Eat ice cream for breakfast. Yes, ice cream. This meal sets the tone for the rest of the day. The most healthy thing consumed was half of a turkey and swiss sandwich. The rest of the day's carnage includes cheetos, chocolate chocolate chip cookies and Taco Bell (anything with the word "supreme" in the title).
Tuesday: Eat nothing but a Powerbar all day at work and have to respond "okay" when people ask how the "race" was.
Wednesday: Snap the heck out of it. Realize that there are far worse things to be depressed about. Go for a three mile run and continue contemplating a January redo (tentatively).
Tonight I did a neighborhood stroll in the rain and wind. Though it was just an easy three miler, it was nice to be out there again.
